I was eight-years-old when I stood in front of a painting of cows in a field and felt transported. Upon closer inspection, I was fascinated when I found only multi-colored blobs of paint. All of my art has been an evolution of techniques attempting to more fully understand how the interplay of color, light, andmark-making create an experience for the viewer.
When I am putting paint to canvas, my analytical mind is temporarily unburdened from its everyday tasks and is only in service to the creative process. I feel content standing back and looking at my finished work, knowing that I have done my best to not just recreate an object, but also the feelings that go with it that will hopefully transport the viewer as I was all those years ago.
